To support the Macau SAR government’s policy of improving elderly services, the Academy for Senior of the City University of Macau (CityU) held an academic symposium on March 31 at the Royal Campus.

Vice Rector Ip Kuai Peng extended gratitude to the SAR government, particularly the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ), the recognition and support of the Senior Academy’s work. He emphasized integrating active aging into governance, with the Academy promoting lifelong learning and social inclusion via community workshops and courses in culture, skills, and wellness. Key proposals: (1) Cross-regional collaboration leveraging Greater Bay Area policies for integrated medical care; (2) Digital empowerment through shared health data platforms; (3) Multi-stakeholder governance involving government, universities, NGOs, and businesses.


Dr. Deqin LIN, (Programme Coordinator, Faculty of Finance) – Advocated "learning in old age" through adapted courses in digital skills, health, and arts via academies and community centers. Linked to lifelong learning rewards, encouraging seniors' community involvement to release "silver power" and build a livable Macau. Dr. Iok Teng KOU, (Programme Coordinator, Faculty of International Tourism and Management) – Proposed aligning with "15th Five-Year Plan" for tourism-health fusion: age-friendly facilities with AI/VR; Greater Bay Area cross-border medical insurance, rescue, and standards; community leisure sharing to benefit seniors.



Dr. Shiyan LOI, (Dissertation Supervisor, Institute for Research on Portuguese-Speaking Countries)-Emphasized building inclusive society beyond basic needs, using AI for personalized smart care to reduce burdens and enable self-care. Suggested "One Household Pass" platform for convenient life, mutual aid, learning, and self-realization.
Dr. Jierong HU, (Assistant Professor, Faculty of Health and Wellness)-Urged smart elderly care via tech applications: IT courses to boost digital literacy for seniors, caregivers, and institutions; improve device usability and accessibility for "tech for good."
Ms. Jenny LOK (Program Coordinator of Innovation Social Work, Faculty of Health and Wellness)-Stressed holistic welfare through Active Ageing: empower seniors with new knowledge and roles to alleviate isolation, enhance well-being, and promote lifelong societal participation.



Ms. Yaofen WU (Acting Director, International Training and Testing Center-Summarized Academy as a diverse learning platform integrating community resources, professional courses in health, arts, tech, and smart living to ignite seniors' interests, foster intergenerational ties, and support active aging in Macau.
