The Academy for Seniors of CityU was officially launched in March 2025. Upholding the concepts of “lifelong learning” and “social inclusion,” it is committed to providing a diversified learning and experience platform for senior citizens aged 55 or above, strengthening their sense of community belonging, promoting social interaction, and helping the elderly improve their life quality. Going forward, the Academy for Seniors will continue to cooperate with different social service institutions in Macao. Through a lifelong education curriculum and community service platform, it will promote the physical and mental health of the elderly, enhance their social participation, and help them realize their self-worth and happiness in the late life.
The "CityU Macau Academy for Seniors" is not just a learning platform but also a bridge to promote social inclusion. We believe that learning knows no bounds, and life can be more wonderful. Through this program, we hope that every senior participant can find joy in learning, feel warmth in interaction.
Program Objectives
Create opportunities for continuous education and learning for Macau senior citizens, better in adapting to the social development.
Enhance the self - care ability of Macau senior citizens, better cope with various changes in life and maintain an independent and autonomous lifestyle.
Provide a social platform for Macau senior citizens, strengthening their sense of community belonging and social interaction, and enabling them to find their value in the community.
Encourage Macau senior citizens to actively participate in social services, give full play to their experience advantages, contribute to society, and at the same time enhance their sense of social responsibility and achievement, increase their social participation, and realize their self - value.
Target Audience
Macau residents aged 55 or above.
Relevant institutions such as Macau senior residential areas, Macau senior social service centers, and senior homes.
Life Lectures
Covers health management, safety, cultural experiences, and mental care. It helps seniors improve their lives, learn practical skills, and have fun while learning. Seniors can participate with their families, strengthening family bonds.
Life Workshops
Focuses on interests and cultural experiences, covering traditional crafts, art, music, and festivals. Seniors can discover new interests, learn new skills, and participate with family, strengthening family bonds and enjoying quality time together.
Life Classroom
Offers a series of practical courses lasting 3 to 12 hours, covering areas such as life skills, interest development, and social participation. With diverse and rich course content, the program aims to help seniors improve their quality of life, learn new skills, and promote social inclusion.
