City University of Macau Visits Top Resort Operators to Drive Tech-Driven Talent Cultivation and Industry-Academia Integration

In a strategic push to support the Macao SAR Government’s "1+4" economic diversification strategy, a senior leadership delegation from the City University of Macau (CityU) recently conducted official visits to major integrated resort operators, including Wynn Macau, Sands China, and SJM Resorts, S.A.

The high-level discussions focused on establishing innovative models for school-enterprise collaboration, centering around corporate digital empowerment, the commercialization of research, high-quality talent cultivation, and specialized senior education.

During the meetings, CityU leadership highlighted the university's rapid development and alignment with national and regional policy frameworks, notably its recent expansion into the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. The university continues to optimize its educational portfolio, seamlessly blending traditional degree programs with professional non-degree training. Key growth areas include cutting-edge curriculum tracks in artificial intelligence (AI), big data analytics, management analytics, health management, hotel management, and international tourism.

To bridge academic insights with industrial needs, representatives from CityU’s Faculty of International Tourism and Management and the Faculty of Business explored direct pipelines to convert academic resources into practical economic engines for local enterprises.

Crucially, CityU’s International Training and Testing Center (ITTC) introduced its demand-driven, highly customizable training modules designed specifically for corporate staff. These programs encompass language proficiency, corporate management, and health, and notably align with official professional certifications from Mainland China's Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

To maximize operational flexibility for shift-based resort employees, CityU proposed a hybrid online-offline learning model. Training can be flexibly deployed across internal corporate facilities, the university’s main campus, or its Hengqin campus.

Through this series of industry engagements, CityU has further synchronized its training frameworks with the real-time demands of Macao's evolving hospitality and gaming sectors, reinforcing its role as a premier platform for lifelong learning and professional advancement in the region.
