Leveraging University and Community Resources, CityU Academy for Senior Deepens Elderly Health Services
In response to the Macao SAR Government’s call for enhanced elderly health services, the City University of Macao Senior Academy deepened its partnership with community organizations by staging two consecutive events on 9 and 11 July. An “Artemisia Hammer Workshop” co-hosted with the Sin Meng Association, drew nearly 25 older adults, along with Ms Yu , Executive Director of Sin Meng, Prof. Zhou Long, Associate Dean of the CityU Graduate School, and Ms.Doris Wu, Acting Head of the International Training and Testing Centre. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, participants crafted their own therapeutic hammers from artemisia and fabric, sharing ideas and laughter throughout the process—an exercise that sharpened dexterity while strengthening social bonds.
The second event, titled “Essential Nutrients: How Much Do You Know?”, featured nutritionist Mr. Lee, who engaged more than 30 seniors in an interactive session that covered basic nutrient functions and personalized dietary strategies. He addressed common nutritional questions, helping attendees adopt sustainable, science-based eating habits. Together, the hands-on workshop and enlightening lecture contributed to both the physical well-being and social inclusion of Macao’s elderly population.
