From Theory to Practice: CityU Macau ITTC Launches
Macau’s First ACE Senior Fitness Coach Training Course

As Macau’s population ages, the demand for senior health and exercise services is growing quickly. The International Training and Testing Center (ITTC) of City University of Macau has launched its first ACE Senior Fitness Coach Training Course, certified by the American Council on Exercise (ACE).

The course aims to train professional senior fitness instructors with international standards and practical skills. It supports the development of Macau’s silver economy and helps build an age-friendly society that promotes healthy aging. The training was taught by Mr. Lai Chun-fai (黎浚輝), an officially authorized FMS instructor for China, Hong Kong, and Macau, and an ACE senior fitness specialist.

Following the core principle of “Safety, Effectiveness, and Sustainability,” Mr. Lai guided participants through eight practical sessions. These sessions helped students learn how to integrate safe exercise into seniors’ daily lives to improve their health and quality of life.

Through theory lessons, case studies, demonstrations, and hands-on practice, participants gained practical skills to guide senior fitness programs safely and effectively.

By training qualified senior fitness coaches, the program helps promote scientific and widespread physical activities for older adults in the community. CityU Macau ITTC will continue to offer various professional training courses to develop talent that meets Macau’s social and economic needs.
