CityU ITTC Co-organizes International Forum on Canal Civilization and Poetry
The first “Canals Connecting the World: International Forum on Canal Civilization and Poetry and Poetry Writing Competition” opened successfully on 16 June 2026 at the Taipa Campus of City University of Macau. The event was co-organized by the International Training and Testing Center (ITTC) of CityU Macau.
Held in Macao, the forum aimed to promote the international exchange and transmission of Chinese traditional culture by connecting the cultural heritage of mainland canals with Macao’s maritime culture. More than 30 poets, scholars, cultural representatives, university faculty members, and students from Europe, Zhejiang, Shandong, Henan, Macao, and Taiwan participated in discussions on topics including the maritime development of canal civilization.

The event also provided young people with opportunities to engage in international cultural activities and encouraged creative exchange through poetry. Participants attended a working meeting of the World Canals Association (Macao) and visited the China–Portugal Joint Laboratory for “Belt and Road” Heritage Science at CityU Macau to learn about the integration of cultural heritage preservation and modern technology.
Through this forum, ITTC strengthened cultural and educational cooperation between mainland China and Macao, while further demonstrating its role as a bridge connecting universities, cultural organizations, young people, and regional partners.
