This year’s GSI  was themed “Walking with the World, Dialoguing with the Future: Learning at CityU Macau, Co-creating a Blueprint for a Talent-Strong Nation.” The program brought together teachers and students from universities and colleges across mainland China, including institutions from Shaanxi, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Sichuan, and Fujian.

The curriculum covered topics such as city aesthetics, digital technology and mental health, future enterprise development, algorithms and the humanities, and international relations. Through academic learning and cultural exchange, the program aimed to strengthen students’ cross-cultural understanding, interdisciplinary thinking, creativity, and international vision.

In the opening address, CityU Macau highlighted that the GSI has been held for three consecutive years and has become an important platform for promoting international exchange and mutual learning among young people. The program also supports Macau’s development goals in education internationalization, talent cultivation, and high-quality development.

The university encouraged students to experience Macau’s multicultural and bilingual environment, learn more about the city’s “1+4” moderate economic diversification strategy, and explore Macau’s role as a platform connecting Eastern and Western cultures.

During the keynote sessions, university leaders and faculty members shared insights on personal development, future success, artificial intelligence, the future of work, cultural understanding, and area studies. Students were encouraged to develop qualities such as curiosity, adaptability, empathy, creativity, responsibility, collaboration, confidence, and persistence.

The one-week program adopted a three-part format combining academic study, city experience, and industry awareness. Students visited Macau’s World Heritage sites, explored local enterprises and institutions, exchanged ideas with industry professionals, and participated in expert presentations and learning outcome showcases.

Through these activities, students gained a deeper understanding of Macau’s urban development, cultural heritage, and industry trends. The program also encouraged them to connect academic knowledge with practical experience and future career development.
