CityU Macau 2026 GSI — Over 330 Faculty and Students
Embark on "Academic · City · Industry" Integration Journey

The one-week 2026 GSI at City University of Macau began on July 19. More than 330 faculty members and students from different universities took part in the program.

With the theme “Walking with the World, Dialoguing with the Future,” this year’s GSI combined academic study, city experience, and industry awareness. The program used Macau’s multicultural background and its role in the Greater Bay Area to provide students with an international, interdisciplinary, and practical learning experience.

The program made use of CityU Macau’s strengths in interdisciplinary teaching and research. Students explored Macau as a World Cultural Heritage city, studied the impact of artificial intelligence on business and society, and learned about the city’s role as a platform connecting China with Portuguese-speaking countries.

In addition to classroom learning, students visited MGM Cotai, the Macau Science Center, 369 Partnership Town, Fu Hong Society’s Pou Choi Centre, and the China-Portuguese-speaking Countries Commercial and Trade Service Platform Exhibition Pavilion. These visits introduced them to Macau’s cultural development, technological innovation, social services, and business environment.

Each study module followed a learning format combining theory, field visits, and practical outcomes. Activities included keynote lectures, thematic classes, World Heritage tours, industry visits, university exchanges, and outcome presentations. This approach helped students connect academic knowledge with real-life experiences and gain a better understanding of Macau’s “1+4” moderate economic diversification strategy.

The GSI also offered specialized training for teachers from Quanzhou College of Light Industry and Maritime Silk Road College. The workshops covered research methods, data mining, artificial intelligence in education, blended teaching, global competence, and cross-cultural education. Field visits and practical activities further supported the teachers’ professional development and international perspectives.
