Guangdong University of Foreign Studies Students Study at City University of Macau — Focusing on Fintech and Financial Law

Two cohorts of the 2026 Guangdong University of Foreign Studies Student Study Program at City University of Macau, organized by the university’s International Training and Testing Center (ITTC), have been successfully completed. The programs ran from July 5–11 and July 12–18, 2026, under the themes “Fintech” and “Financial Law.” They focused on frontier studies, strengthened Guangdong–Macau university cooperation, and helped develop financial talents with international perspectives and interdisciplinary skills. A total of 70 students took part.

In the Fintech program, students explored the integration of finance and technology through classroom teaching, company visits, and presentations. The curriculum covered Macau’s financial industry development and Greater Bay Area cross-border finance opportunities. Lectures addressed topics including family wealth management in the digital age, blockchain and decentralized finance, AI applications in finance, machine learning for financial data analysis and investment decisions, central bank digital currency (CBDC), and green finance. Students also visited Ant Bank Macau to learn about digital banking operations and cross-border payment services.

The Financial Law program centered on international economic law and cross-border financial regulation. Courses covered international trade rules, cross-border financial oversight, international investment law, foreign exchange management, and transnational financial dispute resolution. Drawing on Guangdong–Macau cooperation and Macau’s role as a platform for China–Portuguese-speaking countries economic and trade exchanges, the program built an interdisciplinary “finance + law” knowledge base. Students also visited the Macau Basic Law Memorial Hall to deepen their understanding of Macau’s legal system under “One Country, Two Systems.”

The successful completion of both programs highlights the collaborative education outcomes of Guangdong–Macau universities in fintech and financial law, and supports the Macau SAR Government’s “1+4” moderate diversification strategy. Looking ahead, the ITTC will continue to expand cooperation with Greater Bay Area universities and develop more study programs to better integrate education, talent development, and industry.
