CityU Academy for Seniors Joins Hands with CityU Macau Students to Celebrate Festivals with Seniors, Enriching Their Festive Lives

The Academy for Seniors of CityU was officially launched in March 2025, the university has continued to coordinate and communicate with various social service organizations in Macau, systematically organizing a variety of activities and workshops. 

In May, CityU staff and student volunteers held the "Dragon Boat Festival Series: Well-being & Blessings Sachet" activity for over 60 seniors at the Hap Van Baptist Association Centre and Caritas Macau’s Complexo de Serviços de Apoio Ao Cidadão Sénior 'Retribuição'. Participants created traditional sachets alongside the CityU team, immersing themselves in the festive spirit and enriching the seniors’ holiday experiences.

The event began with an introduction to Dragon Boat Festival culture, where staff explained the festival’s origins, customs, and the symbolism behind sachets in an accessible manner. They also demonstrated sachet-making techniques step-by-step.

During the hands-on session, CityU volunteers assisted seniors in filling sachets with herbal ingredients like mugwort, patchouli, and peppermint, patiently guiding them through the process. Participants not only embraced the festive atmosphere but also enjoyed the creative experience, fostering interaction and companionship through this meaningful tradition.
