CityU ITTC Serves Nearly 760 Participants in Summer Study Programmes, Deepening Regional Education Cooperation

In support of the Macao SAR Government’s efforts to promote the internationalisation of higher education and build diverse learning and exchange platforms, the International Training and Testing Center (ITTC) of City University of Macau received teachers and students from more than 50 institutions across mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao during the July–August 2026 summer period, serving nearly 760 participants in total. The Center organised a range of short-term professional training programmes, study tours and external cooperation projects, including its signature study brand — the Global Summer Institute (GSI) — continuing to develop a “study +” base and establish itself as a regional study-tour hub.

Leveraging the multidisciplinary strengths of City University of Macau and Macao’s role as a window for East-West cultural exchange, ITTC provides thematic study tours, professional training and cultural exchange services for teachers and students from mainland and overseas universities.

The Global Summer Institute, launched in 2024 and now in its third year, has become an important platform for City University of Macau to promote international exchange and mutual learning among young people. This year’s GSI, themed “Journey with the World, Dialogue with the Future: Study at CityU, Co-drawing the Blueprint for a Talent-Strong Nation,” adopted an integrated model of academic study, urban experience and industry understanding. It attracted more than 330 teachers and students from over 30 institutions, including Northwestern Polytechnical University, Jiangsu Police Institute, Jiangsu Second Normal University, Ke Wen College of Jiangsu Normal University, Shanghai Business School, Sichuan University and Quanzhou College of Technology.

In addition, the Center hosted multiple study-exchange groups and industry training sessions from various provinces. These included the “Jiangsu University Students’ Overseas Cultural Exchange” programme involving more than 100 teachers and students from 19 universities in Jiangsu Province. Now in its fourth year, the programme has received nearly 1,500 participants cumulatively and has established a regular youth-exchange platform between Jiangsu and Macao.

Teachers and students from institutions such as Hunan First Normal University, Capital Normal University, Anshun University, Yangzhou University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies and Guangdong Polytechnic of Science and Trade also took part in diverse study programmes. Themes covered AI-empowered cultural tourism innovation, global competence and intercultural education, AI and new-energy finance, financial technology and financial law, the Belt and Road Initiative and Greater Bay Area development, and cultural heritage conservation. Each programme integrated thematic academic study, interactive experiences, urban and industry visits, and student outcome presentations, enabling participants to broaden professional horizons, enhance cross-cultural communication skills and gain a multi-dimensional understanding of Macao and Greater Bay Area development through interdisciplinary study.
