The course began with CityU's School of Health Sciences' Director of the Innovation and Social Work Program, Ms. Lu Zhenni. She welcame the students and faculty from Zhejiang Normal University's School of Psychology. She encouraged everyone to approach the two-week study at CityU with different perspectives to understand psychology, explore the connection between psychology and personal future from new angles, and experience the close relationship between psychology and life in a different way, for the purpose of exploration and learning for personal future planning.
Dean Wang Jun of the School of Psychology at Zhejiang Normal University expressed his gratitude to the CityU International Training and Testing Center for the course arrangement and planning on behalf of the students participating in the training. He quoted, "A bronze mirror can reflect one's appearance; a person can reflect one's actions; history can reflect the rise and fall." He encouraged students to actively communicate with CityU's mentors during the two weeks of study, to broaden their horizons, recognize their uniqueness, and better understand their real position in the world's culture.
Course Implementation
The first day of the course featured Assistant Professor Wang Yiwen from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at CityU. The morning session began with the topic "Perception of the Social World," guiding students to discuss how humans perceive and understand the world around them. Professor Wang used several psychological images to prompt trainee students to consider how these visual cues affect individuals' interpretation of external information and environments.
The afternoon session, building on the morning's content, was titled "The Formation and Impact of Prejudice," delving into the psychological mechanisms behind stereotypes, discrimination, and prejudice, and discussing the various factors that contribute to the formation of prejudice.
