Macao's First Study Tour Instructor Course Commences
The City University of Macau's International Training and Testing Center, the Macau Research Study and Exchange Association, and the Guangdong Study Travel Association jointly launched Macau's first Study Tour Instructor Course. The program integrates local cultural characteristics with practical operations to cultivate professional study tour instructors for regional development.
At the course opening, Ms. Yao Fen WU, Acting Head of the International Training and Testing Center at City University of Macau, emphasized that as a university department providing study tour platforms, it aligns with the Macau SAR Government’s vision of building an "Education City." This initiative aims to establish unique study tour programs in Macau. Supported by the Guangdong Study Travel Association, the course strengthens deep collaboration between Guangdong and Macau in education, advancing the coordinated development of the study tour industry in both regions while building a platform for talent cultivation.
Mr. WAN, President of the Macau Research Study and Exchange Association, noted that this course marks a milestone in deepening cooperation between Guangdong and Macau in study tours. It also represents a practical implementation of Macau's strategic positioning as "One Center, One Platform, One Base." The program provides a platform for deeper collaboration between Macau and Mainland China in study tours, injects new momentum into Macau's diversified economic development, and strengthens its role as a hub for study tour education in the Greater Bay Area. This effort further enhances Macau's influence and competitiveness in regional cooperation.
On the first day of the course, representatives from Macau Youyou Study Tour Cultural Development Co., Ltd. were invited to lead the participants as study tour instructors, guiding them to deeply experience the Dragon Ring Portuguese Style-a site with distinctive Chinese and Portuguese characteristics-through both study and hands-on experience.
Combining with the lecture of Assistant Professor Iok Teng KOU, Director of the Master’s Degree Program and PhD Supervisor at the Faculty of International Tourism and Management of City University of Macau, to teach on the theme of “Planning Study Tour Routes in Macau.”
The online course covers nine topics set by the Guangdong Study Travel Association, including policy interpretation of study tours, the role and career development of instructors, curriculum design and implementation, safety management, project management, application of the PBL (Project-Based Learning) concept, base planning, and the design of red-themed study tour courses, among others.
Through systematic theoretical learning and practical exercises, participants acquire the knowledge, qualities, and core skills required of study tour instructors. By integrating resources from both regions, the course aims to build a professional and efficient talent cultivation and exchange platform, laying a solid foundation for the development of study tour education in Macau and the Greater Bay Area, and further enhancing regional educational cooperation and development.
