1. Introduction

WSET's Level 2 Award in Wines is a beginner- to intermediate-level qualification exploring wines, suitable for industry professionals and wine enthusiasts.


2. Course Outline

  • Wine Identification: Through visual observation, recognize the color and clarity of wine; through olfactory senses, identify its rich aromas; and through taste, appreciate its mouthfeel and flavor.

  • Types of Wine: List common grape varieties used in winemaking and their characteristics.

  • Wine Tasting: Use the WSET Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting® (SAT) to describe wines.

  • Wine Pairing: Pairing wine with appropriate foods is an important skill that enhances your wine tasting experience.


3. Course Structure 

  • 8 sessions, including 20 hours of instruction, 1 hour of review, and 1 hour for the certification exam.

  • Language of Instruction: Chinese (Mandarin), supplementary English.

  • Assessment Method: 1 hour Closed-book exam consisting of 50 multiple-choice questions, passing score is 55%. After the exam is graded by WSET and a passing grade is achieved, students will receive the "WSET® Level 2 Award in Wines Certificate and Badge.

**Please be aware that the course includes the wine tasting component, and it is recommended that students assess their own physical condition.
